CHARIKAR (Pajhwok): Hundreds of infuriated residents of central Parwan province on Tuesday staged a rally against the Anham Company for denying locals and providing outsiders with job opportunities.

Around 300 protesters closed the busy Bagram-Kabul.

Rural council head Ghayasuddin Bakhshi, who also joined the protest, complained the company was hiring people from other provinces at a time when many residents of Parwan were jobless.

Since the firm was functioning in the province, it should prefer residents of Bagram for employment, he argued.

Abdul Wali, head of the Mujahideen Council, threatened they would continue their protest if their legitimate demands were not considered.

Employees of the company could not be contacted for comments but Bagram Mayor Abdul Shakoor Qadoosi claimed the firm had recruited 2,000 residents.
