MAIDAN SHAHR (Pajhwok): Officials in central Maidan Wardak province on Tuesday said the final phase of passport issuing process had been delayed for two more weeks by the central passport office in the capital Kabul.
Director passport office Col. Ahmad Khan in a meeting said they were completing preliminary process for 70 persons in the province’s passport department daily.
He said the passports issued in the provincial department had been sent to the passport department of interior affairs in Kabul for final verification. Passport officials in Kabul review the documents carefully, which normally takes two weeks time, he added.
Meanwhile, Rahimullah Rahmati, director Religious and Hajj Affairs, said that 472 people had been registered the current year to travel to Saudi Arabia for Hajj.
He said the ministry of interior should expedite passports process for pilgrimages to avoid delay in their departure to the holy land.
Acting Governor Abdul Majeed Khogyani asked the ministry of interior to cooperate with provincial passport officials to avoid inordinate delay in passport process.
