KABUL (Pajhwok): The prices of diesel, petrol and ghee edged down, as compared to last week, retailers said on Thursday.
The rate of one litre of petrol decreased by one afs while, one litre diesel rate had decreased from 49 to 48 afgs, Abdul Saboor, owner of a filling station, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
However, the prices of firewood and liquefied gas remained unchanged. Khan Mohammad, a firewood stall owner, said 560kg of oak was sold at 6,800 afgs. Among the food items, only rate of ghee had been decreased.
Fazlu Rahman, head of Food Traders’ Union, said a 16kg tin of Momin ghee was sold at the rate of 1,040 afghanis as compared to 1,050 afs last week. He linked decrease in the ghee prices to its cut in global market.
He said there were some price difference among some items sold in whole sale and retail. Russian and Arabic gold rates also remained unchanged this week. One gram Arabic gold was sold for 2,000 afghanis and one gram Russian gold for 1,600 afghanis, said Mohammad Fawad, a jeweler.
Moneychanger Ahmad Shah Salehi said buying rate of one US dollar was 58. 20 afgs while 1,000 Pakistani rupees was accounted for 575 afs.
