JALALABAD (Pajhwok): A two-day seminar kicked off in Jalalabad, the capital of eastern Nangarhar province, on Tuesday to discuss measures to resolve the problems being faced by the special people.

Muhammad Hanif Gardiwal, the deputy governor, said at the event — organised by the education — the objective ways to resolve the issues facing the disabled.

“The handicapped people are part and parcel of society and all citizens have equal rights to learn under the country’s constitution. It is imperative for every disabled person to get education,” the deputy governor stressed.

Sultan Muhammad Nasiri, head of the Swedish Committee in the eastern zone, told the participants that his organisation had been working to facilitate the handicapped. “We have helped 900 special persons who are admitted to school while 340 others are under treatment.”

Muhammad Aslam, who is deprived of his eyesight, lauded the role of the Sweden Committee in serving the disabled people in Afghanistan over the years. He hoped the committee would continue its humanitarian work.
