JALALABAD (Pajhwok): At least four policemen and ten militants have been killed and another eight rebels and two police wounded in separate security incidents in eastern Laghman and Nangarhar provinces, officials said on Saturday.
Nangarhar police spokesman Hazrat Hussein Mashriqiwal told Pajhwok Afghan News Taliban on Friday night stormed a security check post in Shinwari district. The ensuing gun battle, he said left eight insurgents and two police personnel dead.
The fire fight left another four policemen and ten insurgents wounded, he added. However, a Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid claimed 13 policemen killed in the showdown.
Meanwhile, security officials in Laghman province told Pajhwok Afghan News clashes between local police and insurgents in Alishang district left two insurgents, including Mohammad Tahir, a dreaded commander, dead and two others wounded.
