President-CEO rift on cabinet formation ruled out
KABUL (Pajhwok): The nomination of cabinet members is almost complete and the nominees would be introduced to parliament for approval within days, an aide to Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Abdullah Abdullah said on Tuesday.
Javed Faisal, a spokesman for the ex-foreign minister, said President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani and the CEO were committed to honouring the promise they held out at the London Conference earlier in the month.
At the conference, President Ghani and Abdullah had said the new Council of Ministers would be announced within four weeks. The parliament has repeatedly called for hatening the process.
Earlier, sources said the president and the CEO had agreed on some key cabinet nominees and Monday had been set the deadline for referring them to the parliament for a vote of confidence.
Faisal ruled out any difference of opinion between the president and the CEO over the selection of some individuals as cabinet members.
However, he cited naming of professional people the only reason behind the delay.
