KABUL men’s cricket team on Monday returned home to a rousing welcome by government officials, fans and cricket board officials.

The Afghanistan-A team members arrived at the Kabul International Airport in the afternoon, Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) spokesman Farid Hotak told Pajhwok Afghan News.

He said the national side had played well in the Asian Games, but robbed of gold medal by an experienced Sari Lankan side.

He said Afghanistan finished runners up in the cricket completion ahead of Bangladesh, a Test cricket playing nation.

ACB patron Shahzada Massoud also hailed the team’s performance in the Asian Games in South Korea, where Afghanistan defeated Nepal and Hong Kong to reach the final match against Sari Lanka.
