SHARAN (Pajhwok): Playground for 16 schools in southeastern Paktika province would be constructed at a cost of $350,000 in the current year, an official said on Saturday.
A programme called Stability in Key Areas (SIKA) would fund the project, Education Director Kochi Zazai the told Pajhwok Afghan News.
The projects would be implemented at schools in the provincial capital Sharan and Yousafkhel district, he said, without giving a timescale.
Naqibullah, student of third class, said he was waiting impatiently for the construction of a playground in his school.
He hoped for prompt implementation of the project. The child was confident the project would not turn out to be a pipedream.
A tribal elder, Gulab Khan, is concerned about the quality of work. He said a number of schools constructed by the education department were of poor quality.
Paktika province has 698 schools, where 3,632 teachers impart education to students.
