KABUL Cup, scheduled to begin in Australia and New Zealand in February next year.

The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) also announced the under-19 side for the Elite Cup league matches being hosted by Kuwait fortnight later.

ACB spokesman Farid Hotak told Pajhwok Afghan News the national side would play five one-day internationals (ODIs) during the UAE tour as part of its preparations for the World Cup.

The side would play one ODI against New Zealand-A and the rest against the hosts and would leave for the UAE on Sept. 1, he said.

Besides, the Afghans would undergo a training session in the UAE, he said, adding a 15-member final squad for the World Cup would be announced after the end of the practice session.

The probables are: Mohammad Nabi Issakhel (captain), Nawroz Mangal, Usman Ghani, Javed Ahmadi, Asghar Stanikzai, Shafiqullah Shafique, Gulbadin Naib, Najibullah Zadran, Afsar Zazi, Mirwais Ashraf, Nasir Jamal and Sharfuddin Ashraf.

Hamid Hassan, Farid Ahmad Malik, Izzatullah Daulatzai and Aftab Alam have been named among standby players.

The ACB also named the under-19 squad for the ICC Elite Cup to be played in Kuwait next month.

Afghanistan will join Nepal, the UAE, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.

The players are:  Ihsanullah (captain), Ziaur Rahman Akbar, Shafiqullah, Wahidullah, Tariq, Shaukat Zaman, Hazratullah, Juma Gul, Muslim Musa, Mohammad Sardar, Rashid Arman, Zahir Khan, Javed and Nowinullah.

Standby players include Mohammad Ibrahim, Jamshid Khan, Karim Jannat and Ziaul Haq.
