JALALABAD (Pajhwok): A militant commander allegedly involved in the assassination of former governor for central Logar province has been detained during a special operation by security forces in eastern Laghman province, an official said Thursday.
Arsala Jamal, the former governor, was assassinated when a bomb hidden in a microphone exploded as he spoke at a mosque in Pul-i-Alam, the provincial capital, on October 17, 2013.
But later, an investigation by the National Directorate of Security (NDS in the mosque.
Some officials were accused of involvement in the high-profile assassination.
However, Sarhadi Zwak, the governor’s spokesman of Laghman governor, told Pajhwok Afghan News that militants’ commander allegedly involved in Jamal’s murder was arrested during an operation conducted by the NDS.
He added that the operation was launched in Qarghaio district in which commander Mohammad Din also known as Shahab along with three others detained.
Zwak added that three militants and three policemen were wounded during a clash in Chinchar area of Alingar district this morning.
