ASADABAD (Pajhwok): A week-long Twenty20 Cricket Tournament has concluded in eastern Kunar province, with “Zwan Fikr Yun” club winning the title, an official said on Saturday.

Organised by the Afghanistaninfo-icon Cricket Board (ACB) at the Mandakol cricket ground in Asadabad, the provincial capital, the event featuring eight local teams ended yesterday.

ACB chief in Kunar Liaqat Hasrat told Pajhwok Afghan News the final was played between Zwan Fikr Yun and Bakhtar Clubs. Zwan Fikr Yun won the toss and chose to bat in the 20 overs game.

The side scored 246 runs for the loss of five wickets. Abdul Rahman Kadwal hit 50 off just 11 balls and fell for 56 runs.

Hasrat said Bakhtar club could not chase the target and were bundled out for 137 runs. For the Yun club, Batin Shah clinched four wickets and was declared the man of the match.

Hundreds of spectators watched the final match. Kunar Acting Governor Shujaul Mulk Jalala, ACB domestic cricket in-charge Nazim Jar Abdul Rahimzai, Loba Cricket Community head Zarab Shah Zaheer and local cricket officials were present on the occasion.

Abdul Rahimzai told Pajhwok Afghan News such tournaments on local level played an important role in promotion of the game.

He said a number of projects aiming at developing the Mandakol ground had been launched and more such projects would be launched soon.

Jalala distributed cups and medals among the winning and runner up teams. He said the provincial government had always tried to provide the youth with better sportinfo-icon facilities.
