KABUL National Football team coach Mohammad Yousuf Kargar seriously wounded when unidentified men attacked him with knife in the capital Kabul, an official said Sunday.
Farid Maulaee, deputy chief of football federation, told Pajhwok Afghan News that Kargar unknown men stabbed him in the corridor of his residential building in third Makroryan blocks on Saturday night.
Kargar received serious injuries and was under treatment in a hospital, he added. Sayyed Ali Kazmi, spokesman of the football federation, said that the coach had received four wounds on his head and that he was in critical condition.
He urged security organs to take concerted steps to nab the perpetrators of this heinous crime. The attackers have to be traced.
A doctor wishing anonymity said that Kargar had been stabbed several times and his head injuries were of serious nature.
However, Kabul police chief Lt. Gen. Abdul Rahman Rahimi said that police had launched investigation into the incident to arrest the attackers.
“The investigation is progressing well but we cannot provide details at this stage because it may hamper our effort to reach to the perpetrators,” he said, assuring the attackers would be arrested soon.
