KABUL’s northwestern Kurram tribal region have been ordered to quit the area within three days, a media report said on Monday.

Notices were issued on Sunday to the Afghan nationals living in Bagan and Badshah Kot areas of Lower Kurram Agency, a tribal administration official was quoted as saying.

The Express Tribune said the Afghans put on notice did not have valid documents to verify the reason for their stay in Pakistan. In case of their failure to leave the area within three days, they will be arrested or deported.

“Notices were also put up at prominent places in the areas and announcements made at mosques and imambargahs,” the newspaper said, adding tribespeople had been ordered not to rent their houses to Afghan nationals.

Meanwhile, security forces have launched a search operation in Wana, South Waziristan Agency, where a large number of Afghan refugees are living. Suspects were rounded up and taken to Zari Noor Army Colony for interrogation.

At least 17 unregistered Afghan seminary students were repatriated from the Swabi district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa over the last two days. Two students were sent back for not having proper immigration documents.
