KABUL (Pajhwok): Chief Executive Officer Dr. Abdullah Abdullah on Sunday said those involved in militant activities and killing civilians should know that war offered no solution to problems.
Speaking to Kandahar tribal elders and influential individuals at his office, he said peace was the demand of all Afghans and concrete steps were needed to achieve the goal. Mere slogans could not bring peace, he added.
The Afghans’ rights could be protected by ensuring peace in the country and the national unity government would take effective measures for stability, the CEO promised.
The new government would do all in its power to enforce security, eliminate poverty and joblessness and provide facilities to people, implement reconstruction sector, he continued.
“Unfortunately, the distance between the government and the people has caused many problems in the past,” he lamented, who blamed certain elements for creating the hiatus.
Pledging a clean administration, law enforcement, fighting corruption and appointments on merit, he said eliminating corruption would not be possible without public support to the government.
