SHIBERGHAN (Pajhwok): The body of a woman has been found in northern Jawzjan province— a province that witnessed 13 women deaths last year, an official said Thursday.
Col. Abdul Manan Raufi, police chief, told Pajhwok Afghan News the woman 37, was found who hanged herself to death in a village in Shiberghan, the provincial capital.
The motive behind her alleged suicide had yet to be ascertained, he said, adding that police was investigating the case. She was married to a farmer and is survived by a 10 year old child, Raufi added.
Najiba Quraishi, director women affairs, said majority of these cases were resulting from family feud. “First, members of a family argue on small issues and then it leads to deeper misunderstandings,” she remarked, alleging that the woman seemed to commit suicide due to her domestic problems.
