AIBAK (Pajhwok): A project to construct 38-kilometres road in northern Samangan province is inaugurated on Tuesday while the construction of a bridge in Aibak, the provincial capital, has been completed, an official said.

Eng. Zia Humayun, director public works department, told Pajhwok Afghan News the newly constructed bridge in Qachan Dara locality was 20 metres long with financial assistance extended by Sweden.

The bridge was destroyed in a flood in 2010 and residents of the locality were facing acute problems to pass through the area, he recalled.

Similarly, he said work on the 38-kilometre long road was also begun. The road will take 10 months, which would cost $567,000 paid by the Sweden government.

The road starts from Aibak city and end on Bik Mohammad Qadook area of Hazrat Sultan district of the province, he added. The construction of the road would facilitate transportation facilities of coal coalmine of Dara-I-Souf Bala and Dara-I-Souf Payen districts.
