TIRINKOT (Pajhwok): Some influential people have been creating hurdles to the construction of a recreational park in the Choora district of central Uruzgan province.
Haji Abdul Malik, the district administrative chief, told Pajhwok Afghan News on Saturday some powerful individuals had stopped workers from working on the recreational park.
Construction work on the project, funded by Save the Children International, an NGO, had kicked off. But now work on the park has been halted.
The strongmen, he alleged, wanted to use the funds allocated for the park for their personal interests. In addition, they have been trying to employ relatives on the project.
