QALAT (Pajhwok): Two Afghan Local Police (ALP) members, who were kidnapped by militants recently, have been killed in the Shah Joi district of southern Zabul province, an official said on Wednesday.

District chief Abdul Khaliq told Pajhwok Afghan News the Taliban had kidnapped the ALP men, whose bodies were found late on Tuesday.

A local official wishing not to be named said the ALP members had been kidnapped on the Kabul-Kandahar Highway two days ago.

About two weeks ago, 31 passengers were forced out from a bus by gunmen from the same highway. The fate of the passengers is still unclear.

According to another report, Taliban militants have torched a house of ALP commander in Chak district of Maidan Wardak province.

The incident took place when rebels set the house of ALP commander Almas on fire in Dawrankhel area of the district last night, Attaullah Khogyani, the governor’s spokesman, said.
