FARAH CITY (Pajhwok): A nine kilometers road connecting the Jawin district of western Farah province with the capital has been asphalted, an official said on Wednesday.
Construction work on the road started 11 months ago. Eng. Abdul Wahab Sediqi, director of public works, told Pajhwok Afghan News the project cost 192 million afghanis.
Half of the funds were provided by the Ministry of Public Works and the rest by the World Bank (WB). He said the roads from Farah City to eight other districts were yet to be graveled.
Mohammad Asif Nang, the governor’s spokesman, stressed budget should be allocated for the construction of roads. He added farmers in the districts faced problems in transporting their crops to cities. Nang also mentioned the need for asphalting the ‘Mail78’ route connecting Farah province with neighbouring Iran.
