Daikundi municipality official detained on graft charges

NEILI (Pajhwok): A municipality official of the central Daikundi province has been detained over alleged embezzlement, a prosecutor said on Thursday.

An Attorney General Office (AGO) source confided to Pajhwok Afghan News that Municipality Finance Director Mohammad Hanif Raufi had embezzled 28 million afghanis.

The source said the official was detained by the National Directorate of Security (NDS) late on Wednesday.

Mayor Noor Mohammad Sadaqat confirmed Raufi’s arrest, but said he was unaware of the alleged embezzlement.
