KHOST CITY (Pajhwok): Acting governor of southeastern Khost province on Saturday said 80% government institutions got proper buildings, which would intensify progress and development of the area.

Abdul Jabbar Naeemi expressed the views while inaugurating an uplift project in Khost City, the provincial capital. Five years back, he recalled, 60 percent of government offices operated in private houses.

But the new buildings had all required facilities including uninterrupted power supply, he remarked. He noted 150 hectares of land had been allocated for building offices inside a big complex west of Khost City.

Efforts are on to construct more buildings to house government offices. “We are focused on constructing buildings for police in districts and border areas, which will require cooperation from the Ministry of Interior and international community,” he added.

Baryalai Rawan, the governor’s spokesman, said some important offices still did not have their own buildings. But he added the government was employing all resources to construct buildings for them without further delay.

Syed Karim Khaksar, former provincial council member, said offices that had been built inside the complex had facilitated people and reduced their problems.
