Summit on Afghan peace process planned in Turkey
KABUL (Pajhwok): Several political leaders, including former president Hamid Karzai and Taliban’s representatives, have been invited to a conference on Afghanistan’s peace process to be organised in Turkey in the near future.
The summit is planned by a French peace research centre, which has previously organised such gatherings on Afghanistan in Paris and Dubai, the United Arab Emirates.
A source close to the organisers of the Turkey conference on Afghanistan told Pajhwok Afghan News former president Karzai had been invited to the event. Leaders of various political parties, Taliban’s and government’s representatives have also been invited.
A parliamentarian, who has been invited to the conference, told Pajhwok Afghan News former presidential candidate and Hezb-i-Islami Afghanistan (HIA) member Qutbuddin Hilal, former first vice-president Yunus Qanuni, Haji Roohullah, Maulvi Shahzada, Mullah Zaeef and some others would attend the event.
But presidential spokesman Ajmal Abidi told Pajhwok Afghan News they were unaware of the summit.
