Kabul mob puts woman to death for alleged blasphemy

KABUL in capital Kabul, a police official said.

Police officer Col. Humayoun Aini said the incident took place in the afternoon in the limits of 2^nd police district.

“The woman burnt the holy Quran in front of Shah-i-Doshamshera Mosque. When people were informed, they started beating her till she died,” he added.

Aini said initially the mobsters wanted to burn her alive, but they were prevented by police. The victim’s dead body was then thrown into Kabul River.

However, witnesses claimed the mob burnt the woman alive. Resident Abdul Saboor told Pajhwok Afghan News: “After I went to the area, people had already burnt her.”

Pictures shared on social networking sites also showed that the woman was burnt.
