KHOST/HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): Two people were killed and seven others wounded in two separate landmine explosions in southeastern Khost and western Herat provinces late Sunday, officials said.
Four civilians and two policemen were injured in a landmine blast that came minutes apart an earlier explosion in Herat City, an official said.
There were two explosions, with the first taking place at around 7:30pm in front of a park near the governor’s house in Herat city, provincial police spokesman, Abdul Rauf Ahmadi, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
The second blast in the same venue in the limits of the first police district occurred after police and residents rushed to the scene after the first blast, leaving four civilians and two policemen injured, he said.
In Khost, a landmine explosion at a square in the provincial capital injured a watchman at 06:45pm, provincial police chief Brig. Gen. Faizullah Ghairat told Pajhwok Afghan News.
He said the explosives had been planted in front of a shop. The injured man had been rushed to hospital, he said.
But another security official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the watchman and a child were killed and a second child injured in the blast.
