KHOST CITY (Pajhwok): At least five civilians including children were killed and 10 others wounded in cross-border shelling of Tarzai and Alisher districts of southern Khost province, an official said on Thursday.

Mubarez Mohammad Zadran, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News 15 artillery shells were fired at 9pm into Chargoti and Noori areas. The shells hit three houses, killing three women and two children,

Ten other people including eight women and two men were injured. Mubarez alleged the shells were fired from across the border and they had started an investigation to find out the exact location.

A government official, who did not want to be named, told Pajhwok Afghan News the shells targeted the location where the militants had hideouts.
