KABUL (Pajhwok): Three people were killed and eight others, including a lawmaker, wounded in a suicide bomb blast in the 8th police district of the capital Kabul on Sunday, officials said.
The explosion took place in the Shah Shahid locality in front of the Zazai Youth office at around 6:00pm when people were coming out of a mosque in the area, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) spokesman said.
Siddique Siddiqui confirmed to Pajhwok Afghan News Gul Pacha Majidi, a Wolesi Jirga member from Paktia province, was among the injured. He was on his way to youth office.
Brig. Gen. Humayun Aini, the 119 police hotline chief, confirmed the suicide attack to Pajhwok Afghan News. However, he gave no further details, saying an investigation was ongoing.
Abdul Kabir Amiri, director of Kabul hospitals, said the victims were all civilians. A doctor and a child were killed in the attack, he said, adding one of the injured was in critical condition
Eyewitness Zabihullah Ihsas said security forces condoned off the area soon after the explosion. There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the suicide bombing.
