KABUL (Pajhwok): The prices of fuel, gas and sugar have dipped down while other daily use commodities remained steady during the outgoing week in Kabul, market sources said Thursday.
A filling station worker in Wazirabad locality, Abdul Saboor, said the price of one litre of diesel decreased from 44afs to 42afs and the same quantity of petrol from 42afs to 41afs.
A liquefied gas seller in Taimani area Mohammad Usman sold one kilogram of gas for 32afs as compared to last week’s price of 35afs.
In food items, the price of sugar has edged down.
Food Traders’ Union head Fazal Rahman said that 50kg of Pakistani sugar was sold for 1,500afs, as compared to 1,520afs of last week. But the price of 50kg of Pakistani flour has increased from 1,250afs to 1,260afs.
However, he said that one kg of Vietnamese green tea was priced at 180afs, the same quantity of African black tea at 210afs, a 24-kg sack of rice at 1,800afs and a 16-kg tin of ghee at 980afs, the same price of last week’s.
But a retailer in Taimani, Gulabuddin, sold a 49-kg bag of flour for 1,350afs, a 50-kg sack of sugar for 1,700afs and a 24-kg bag of rice for 2,200afs.
He sold a 16-litre tin of ghee for 1,050afs, a kilo of African black tea for 250afs and the same quantity of Vietnam green tea for 250afs — higher than wholesale prices.
The prices of gold also remained steady.
Mohammad Fawad, a jeweler in Timor Shahi area, told Pajhwok Afghan News the price of one gram of Arabian gold was 2,050afs and the price of same quantity of Russian variety 1,600afs.
Moneychanger Ahmad Shah Salehi said the buying rate of one US dollar was 57.87afs, while 1,000 Pakistani rupees accounted for 563afs.
Last week’s exchange value of the dollar stood at 57.90afs and 1,000 Pakistani rupees at 563afs.
