Ghani visits SMDKH to inquire about blast victims’ health

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): President Ashraf Ghani on Friday visited Sardar Mohammad Daud Khan Hospital (SMDKH) to inquire about the healthinfo-icon of those wounded in the devastating suicide attack in Khost province.

The president directed the hospital staff and health officials to provide the injured with best medical care facility.

The death toll into the devastated suicide attack on Thursday in the southeastern Khost province surged to 20 as two more tribal elders succumbed to injuries in hospital.

Mubariz Zadran, spokesman for the acting governor, on Friday confirmed to Pajhwok Afghan News that 20 persons were dead and the widely condemned bombing left another 64, most of them seriously, wounded.

A statement from the Presidential Palace said that Ghani directed the hospital staff to spare no efforts in ensuring better treatment to the injured.

He prayed for early recovery of wounded and extended condolences to the bereaved families to bear this irreparable loss with fortitude.

Talibaninfo-icon Spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid rejected his group involvement in the blast.  Afghanistaninfo-icon leaders, the United Nations, Pakistaninfo-icon, the Resolute Support mission and others strongly condemned the suicide bombing.
