Gen. Ludin nominated as defense minister
KABUL (Pajhwok): President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani on Monday nominated Lt. Gen. Mohammad Afzal Ludin as defense minister, presidential spokesman said.
Mohammad Ajmal Abidy told Pajhwok Afghan News that Ludin would be introduced to parliament for vote of confidence soon.
Lt. Gen. Mohammad Afzal Ludin hails from central Logar province. He has studied and obtained military education in both the US and former Soviet Union.
During Babrak Karmal’s era, Ludin was deputy defence minister while in Dr. Najibullah’s administration he has worked on many positions including Nangarhar’s governor and National Security Council (NSC) advisor.
Mohammad Afzal Ludin is 71-year-old.
