8 playgrounds to be built in Nimroz: MRRD
ZARANJ (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (MRRD) on Wednesday said eight playgrounds would be constructed for schools’ students in southwestern Nimroz province.
MRRD Deputy Director Farid Azim said four playgrounds would be built in Kang district and as many in Zaranj City, the capital of the province.
Azim told Pajhwok Afghan News the construction work has begun today and would take two months to complete.
The volleyball, football, basketball and race grounds would cost nine million afghanis to be financed by Stability in Key Area (SIKA), he said, adding the ground for spectators was also considered in 30x50 square metres playgrounds.
There was no standard playground in Nimroz province and the students were forced to play on uneven grounds.
Mohammad Naeem, a high school student who lives in Kang district said: “There is no recreational place or play ground in our area. We have just installed two sticks on both sides of a dusty ground and we play football there.”
