Price of ghee, flour down, sugar up

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The prices of ghee and flour have dipped down while that of sugar has slightly edged up during the outgoing week, market sources said on Thursday.

Food Traders’ Union head Fazal Rahman told Pajhwok Afghan News that the price of 50 kilogrammes of Pakistani sugar has increased from 1,520 afghanis to 1,540afs.

But he said that the rates of 50kg of Pakistani flour has dipped down from 1,250afs to 1,240afs and the price of 16 liters of Momin ghee reduced from 980afs to 960afs.

Other food items remained steady.

One kilogram of Vietnamese green tea was priced at 180afs, the same quantity of African black tea at 210afs, a 24-kg sack of rice at 1,800afs and, the same price of last week’s.

But a retailer in Taimani, Gulabuddin, sold a 49-kg bag of flour for 1,330afs, a 50-kg sack of sugar for 1,700afs and a 24-kg bag of rice for 2,200afs.

He sold a 16-litre tin of ghee for 1,050afs, a kilo of African black tea for 250afs and the same quantity of Vietnam green tea for 250afs -- higher than wholesale prices.

A filling station worker in Wazirabad locality, Abdul Saboor, said the price of one litre of diesel was 44afs and the same quantity of petrol 42afs, the same prices’ of last week’s.

A liquefied gas seller in Taimani area Mohammad Usman sold one kilogram of gas for 32afs, no changes in the price to last week’s.

Mohammad Fawad, a jeweler in Timor Shahi area, told Pajhwok Afghan News the price of one gram of Arabian gold was 2,050afs and the price of same quantity of Russian variety 1,600afs.

Moneychanger Ahmad Shah Salehi said the buying rate of one US dollar was 58afs, while 1,000 Pakistani rupees accounted for 563afs.

Last week's exchange value of the dollar stood at 57.90afs and 1,000 Pakistani rupees at 563afs.
