6 suspects detained in Khost suicide attack
KABUL (Pajhwok): Six suspects have been detained in connection with a suicide attack that killed and wounded several people at a protest rally in the capital of southeastern Khost province, the spy service said on Saturday.
The suicide blast ripped through a crowd of people protesting against corruption in front of the governor’s house in Khost City on April 2, killing 22 persons and injuring 62 others, including a lawmaker, Humayoun.
The detainees included a Pakistani national, Obaidullah son of Afzal Rahman, a resident of northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, the National Directorate of Security or NDS said in a statement.
The remaining five suspects identified as Shakil Rahman, Nooruddin, Abidullah, Sayed Rahman and Wahidullah were residents of Khost province, the statement added.
Earlier, Taliban’s spokesman Zabihullah Majuhid had rejected their hand in the attack.
