14 Nangarhar schools, 3 clinics to get buildings
JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Construction work on buildings for 14 schools and three health clinics would be launched next week in Behsud and Surkhrud districts of eastern Nangarhar province, an official said on Monday.
Speaking at a gathering here, Deputy Governor Mohammad Hanif Gardiwal said the structures would cost $10.4 million provided by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
He said all issues concerning the projects had been resolved and the construction works would be launched next week. He said thousands of people would benefit from the projects that would take a year to complete.
Education Director Allahdad Ismailzai said 13 high and one higher secondary school would be established with the capacity to enroll 60,000 students.
The deputy governor said currently 897 schools were operational in Nangarhar, with 45 percent of them having no proper buildings.
