Ghani, Karzai submit gifts from UAE, Kuwait
KABUL (Pajhwok): President Ashraf Ghani and his predecessor Hamid Karzai have submitted seven valuable gifts they received during foreign trips to Da Afghanistan Bank (DAB), the Presidential Palace said on Monday.
The two leaders had been dedicated the gifts on their formal visits to Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), a statement from the Office of Administrative Affairs (OAA) at the Presidency said.
The items were submitted to the central bank and registered as government properties, it said. A three-member delegation representing OAA accomplished the process.
The items include the front facing of Sheikh Zahid Masjid along with its domes, minarets, gateways coated with gold, a table clock glazed with gold, an icon of date palm with golden leaves with a silver deer beside, a golden ship statue, an icon made of a valuable golden clock on a silver camel, the clock tower icon glazed with gold as well as a silver statue of an eagle landed on a hand enchased with precious stones.
The items handed over to Da Afghanistan Bank on Monday had previously been kept at Gulkhana Palace at the Presidential Palace.
