Plot to bomb Ghazni ceremony thwarted
GHAZNI CITY (Pajhwok): National Directorate of Security (NDS) officials arrested three militants with huge explosives plotting to attack a planned ceremony in southern Ghazni province on Monday, the acting governor said.
Musa Khan Akbarzada said the miscreants wanted to carry out a sabotage act at a gathering marking the first anniversary of Ghazni City serving as the capital of Islamic Civilisation .
All arrangements were finalised for the event. Ghazni City was selected to serve as the Asian capital of the Islamic civilisation for 2013 by the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation at a conference held in Tripoli, Libya, in 2007.

Officials from other provinces such as Logar, Paktia and members of Wolesi Jirga, local elders and people had arrived to attend the gathering.
