Protestors seek swift recovery of kidnapped passengers
KABUL (Pajhwok): University students on Monday staged a protest rally in front of the parliament building in capital Kabul, demanding swift recovery of the 31 abducted passengers in southern Zabul province.
They warned of launching a series of demonstrations if the government failed to take immediate action for the release of the kidnapped Hazara men. The passengers were snatched from two buses nearly two months ago on the road between western Herat province and Kabul in the Shahjoy district of Zabul province.
The men were returning from Iran when masked gunmen, believed to be members of the so-called Islamic State group, kidnapped them at gunpoint. The protesters urged the government to explore every option to ensure their safe release.
Ramazan Ali Sultan, a law student, said: “We want the unity government to take action for early release of the kidnapped men.”
