4 ALP members among 7 dead in Badakhshan clash
FAIZABAD (Pajhwok): Four Afghan Local Police (ALP) members, including their commander and three militants have been killed during a clash in northeastern Badakhshan province, an official said Thursday.
The incident took place in Yomal village of Warduj district last evening, the town’s administrative chief said.
Dawlat Mohammad KHawar told Pajhwok Afghan News that three rebels were also killed in retaliatory attack by ALP forces, he said.
However, Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid claimed killing five ALP members including their commander, Ashur, in the attack.
He said a machine gun, four Kalashnikovs, a walkie-talkie and some ammunition were also seized from ALP members.
The fight is still ongoing and a large number of security forces are besieged by Taliban, Mujhaid claimed.
But Warduj district chief said rebels fled the area after security forces’ reinforcement reached to the area.
