KANDAHAR CITY (Pajhwok): Two persons were killed and 21 others wounded when a huge blast took place inside police arms depot in Kandahar, the capital of southern Kandahar province, on Tuesday morning, an official said.

Brig. Gen. Rahmatullah Atrafi, police chief, told Pajhwok Afghan News one person died and 10 others wounded in the blast. Five policemen and as many civilians were among the injured, he added.

Atrafi said the explosive materials were seized by police in different areas and went-off with big bang in police munitions store. He said investigation was underway to identify what caused the blast.

A security official told Pajhwok Afghan News earlier that six persons were killed and 14 others wounded in explosion but Atrafi rejected that report.

However, a healthinfo-icon official at the Mirwais Hospital said two dead bodies and 21 others were admitted to the hospital. According to health official, eight policemen and 13 civilians are among the wounded and their condition is stable.
