Afghan surgeon receives gold medal in Pakistan

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): An Afghan neurosurgeon has received a gold medal from one of Pakistaninfo-icon’s leading medical universities in the capital of Punjab province.

Dr. Ahmad Obaid Mujaddedi, a resident of eastern Nangarhar province, told Pajhwok Afghan News he obtained the gold medal from the University of Healthinfo-icon Sciences Lahore upon successfully completing his masters in neurosurgery.

He said since 2012 only three students had managed to bag gold medals from the prestigious university. “Dr. Salman Yunus, another Afghan, and a Pakistani student were also awarded gold medals.”

Dr. Mujaddedi, a graduate from Nangarhar University, said he had been pursuing his masters in Pakistan for the last five years.

Earlier, he had performed successful neurosurgeries at Kabul and Nangarhar hospitals.
