Call to bolster strength of security forces in Nangarhar
JALALABAD (Pajhwok): A number of provincial council members in eastern Nangarhar province held a protest on Tuesday, demanding surge in the number of security forces in the strategically important province.
The protesters gathered in front of provincial council building and warned to continue their protest till their demand was met.
Dr. Nassar Kamawal, deputy head of provincial council, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the strength of security forces was needed to be bolstered as per population’s proportion.
Zabih Ullah Zamarai, another provincial council member, said: “The number of security forces in the province is around 3,000 personnel who could not ensure security to the entire province.”
Nangrahar stood amongst 7th top populated provinces of the country but the number of security personnel deployed was lower, Zamarai complained.
