2 detained; huge arms cache recovered
KABUL / ZARANJ (Pajhwok): The National Directorate of Security (NDS) claimed recovering a huge arms cache in northern Kunduz and western Farah provinces and detained two men, a statement from the spy network said on Wednesday.
Separately, unidentified gunmen abducted two money-changers in southwestern Nimroz province, the statement added.
Mohammad Nasir and Samiullah were smuggling 60 weapons of different brands in a car bearing no registration for insurgent activities, the statement said.
The two alleged smugglers were arrested red-handed by NDS officials from the Zarkharid locality of Kunduz City, the provincial capital.
The weapons included nine Kalashnikovs, 50 pistols of different brands and more than 1,900 bullets. The arms were kept in concealed compartment of the car.
Separately, the NDS operatives recovered 30 Kalashnikovs, 17 pistols and 3,700 bullets in the Balabulok district of Farah province.
In Nimroz, unidentified gunmen abducted two money changers from the 6th municipality district of Zaranj City, the provincial capital of Nimroz province.
A source wishing anonymity said Ghulam Hazrat Maki and Ghulam Nabi Maki might be abducted for ransom.
