Mammoth rally held in support of armed forces
FIROZKOH (Pajhwok): Followers of Green Movement on Thursday held a mammoth rally in support of Afghan security forces in western Ghor province and demanded the government to hold in talks with militants by keeping national interests aloft.
Around 200 protesters took to the streets in Firozkoh City, the provincial capital of Ghor, and chanted slogans in support of Afghan forces and rejected the influence of Islamic State (IS), Pakistan and Taliban rule.
Some infuriated demonstrators were waving national flags and demanded the government to come down hard on militants.
Khair Mohammad, a demonstrator, said they had kicked-off a campaign in support armed forces and urged the government to adopt tough stance against rebels.
Hameedullah, another protester, said it was the duty of every Afghan to stand by the country’s security forces.
Gatherings and campaigns in support of Afghan National Army (ANA) has geared up after the killing of 27 soldiers in the Jurm district of northeastern Badakhshan province by Taliban.
