Pajhwok turns 11, formally launches mobile app
KABUL (Pajhwok): Celebrating its 11th birthday, Pajhwok Afghan News on Saturday used the occasion to formally launch its new mobile app (application) system that would keep up internet readers with the latest news.
Headquartered in Kabul, the agency has eight regional bureaus and a nationwide network of reporters and correspondents provides photographs, videos footage and audio clips to international wire agencies, televisions and radio stations.
A gathering involving media outlets leaders, civil society activists, high-ranking government officials and Kabul-based foreign diplomats celebrated Pajhwok Afghan News’s 11th birthday at the agency’s main office.
Speaking on the occasion, Pajhwok Director Danish Karokhel thanked all workers for enduring hardships and dangers during the 11 years. He said every Afghan knew the agency because it reflected their problems in an impartial manner.
He said Pajhwok had introduced the Mobile App on March 17, which could be accessed on mobile sets with Andriod and IOS technology.
“More than 22 million people in Afghanistan use mobile phones and 2.5 million have access to the internet. We want to use the technology to keep the Afghans informed about developments taking place in Afghanistan every minute,” Karokhel said.
