9 new members introduced to cricket board
KABUL (Pajhwok): President Ghani has introduced nine new members to the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) through a special decree to promote healthy competition among the youth and further streamline the board’s coordination affairs.
The new members include Finance Minister Eklil Hakimi, Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Hikmat Khalil Karzai, Urban Development Minister Syed Sadat Mansoor Naderi, president political advisor Dr. Abdul Ali Mohammadi and few more including top businessmen, the ACB said in a statement.
The new members would play their role in devising prudent policies for the promotion of cricket game, keeping in view the ACB ‘s independence and acting in line with the established rules and ICC standards, the statement said.
ACB chairman Nasimullah Danish told Pajhwok Afghan News the appointment of new members was a step forward in ensuring transparency and enabling the ACB to meet international demands and ICC requirements.
Danish said the board members would regularly meet and work closely with board officials for the development of cricket.
ACB chief executive officer Shafiqullah Stanakzai called the addition of new members to the ACB a giant leap towards strengthening the board’s steadfastness.
He said the ACB should have active members who could meet ICC standards and increase the board’s coordination with the council.
