Farah: Taliban kill 3 ALP men in captivity
MAIMANA (Pajhwok): The Taliban shot dead three captive Afghan Local Police (ALP) officials in the Qaisar district of northwestern Faryab province, an official said on Thursday.
The district chief, Abdul Jamil Sidiqui, told Pajhwok Afghan News the ALP men were taken hostage by the Taliban during an attack on their post on Wednesday.
Their bodies were recovered from the Chaharshanbi locality, he said, adding the slain officials were part of a 200-member ALP force led by commander Nizam in Bashiblamast locality.
But another ALP commander, Bismillah, accused commander Nizam of negligence that led to the captivity and killing of the three ALP men at the hands of Taliban.
He said airstrikes by Afghan forces pushed the Taliban from the area, but they staged a quick comeback after the bombardment had ended, capturing the ALP post and taking some ALP members hostage.
Javed Qaisar, a resident of the area, confirmed the three ALP officials had been killed in captivity by the Taliban.
