Militant dies in botched Kandahar car bombing
KANDAHAR CITY (Pajhwok): Police opened fire at a suicide bomber on Thursday causing his explosives-laden car to explode in southern Kandahar province, an official said.
The blast took place in the Daman district eight kilometres away from the provincial capital, Kandahar City, injuring one policeman, the governor’s spokesman told Pajhwok Afghan News.
The police manning a check post opened fire at the car after its driver ignored signals to stop during a cordon, Samim Khpalwak said.
The suicide bomber died in the blast that injured one policeman.
Ahmadullah, a local resident, said he was in his shop when he heard a loud explosion. He confirmed a policeman was injured in the blast.
