People’s say in budget preparation stressed
Ikram Afzali, IWA chief, told reporters in Kabul budgets prepared in Kabul hardly addressed people’s needs and demands. “Budgets prepared in Kabul lack transparency and can’t be called national budgets,” he elaborated.
Afzali said “public should point out projects and the government should invest whatever deemed possible.” The government should educate people and their representatives on budget preparations.
He said the government could avoid under-spending only when people were effectively involved in budge preparation.
Ali Yazdan, a member of the provincial council member of Kabul, claimed the government planned to allocate meager amounts for some regions and people would regret not partaking in the budget’s preparation.
The Finance Ministry has long been insisting it prepares annual budgets in line with immediate priorities.
