2 bodies found in Logar; Uruzgan elder killed

May 01, 2015 - 19:00

PUL-I-ALAM/TARINKOT (Pajhwok): Two dead bodies of men have been found in central Logar province and a tribal elder has been gunned down in Uruzgan province, officials said on Friday.

The two dead bodies were found in the Mohammad Agha district of Logar, the district police chief, Abdul Wakil Haqyar, told Pajhwok Afghan News. He said the slain individuals were residents of the Mughalkhel area.

“One of the deceased owned a bulldozer and the second worked with him. A caller from Pul-i-Alam invited them yesterday to work with him. When they went to meet the caller, they were taken hostage and later their bodies were found.”

Haqyar said no one had been arrested in connection with the double murder, but police had opened their investigation.

A resident of the Mughalkhel area, Habib Rahman, who is relative of the deceased, told Pajhwok Afghan News the two had been tricked under the pretext of work and then taken hostage.

He said the abductors made calls to their families last night, demanding $100,000 in return for releasing the two. “They were killed after the families did not pay the amount because they could not afford it.”

Elsewhere, unknown gunmen shot dead a tribal elder, Haji Mohammad Akhlas, in the Dehrawud district of central Uruzgan province on Thursday.

The district police chief, Noorzai, confirmed the incident and said an investigation into the murder had been launched.
