Afghan kids to learn mother tongue in Netherlands
Dr. Obaidullah Obaid, Afghan Ambassador to the Netherlands, welcomed the inauguration of the centre, calling it a major step in teaching Afghan children their mother tongue.
The centre was initiated by Ahmad Shah Baba Academic and Cultural Association in the Netherlands.
Apart from Afghan students, the officials said, Dutch and Turkish students have also enrolled in the centre to learn Afghan languages.
Nangyalai Basirak, head of the association, said such centres have been inaugruated across Denmark, Sweden, Canada and the U.S., teaching hundreds of Afghan children their mother tongue.
He added more than 43,000 Afghan families lived in Netherlands.
