Ghani vows measures to address Khost tension

Ghani vows measures to address Khost tension

May 02, 2015 - 19:25

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): President Ashraf Ghani has said necessary measures would be taken to resolve political tension in southeastern Khost province.

A statement from the Presidential Palace said on Saturday President Ghani met a delegation that he had sent to Khost for investigation into differences between two lawmakers, their supporters and the provincial governor.

It said the necessary measures would be taken in line with recommendations offered by the returning delegation.

About a month back, two lawmakers Humayun Humayun and Kamal Nasir Osoli led protests against the provincial governor accusing of him of corruption.

Some provincial council members, tribal elders and religious scholars were part of the protests.

Twenty persons were killed and another 64 wounded when a suicide bomber blew himself up at a protest camp outside the governor’s office.
